Why do guinea pigs need to be dried?

Guinea pigs never like being wet. They are very sentient of cold as guinea pigs are so delicate animals. If you bathe a guinea pig in a cold climate but don’t dry them off in a proper way, it’ll obviously give them chills and in the end, they’ll feel miserable.

Few steps to dry guinea pigs properly:

1.Towel dry:

Just after finishing the bath, wrap your guinea pig in the towel and let it be warm and comfortable. Sometimes, water can soak through the towel. So, switch it to another towel.

After a few minutes, try to remove the towel for a little while and see if it tries to remove water from its body on its own. Don’t give it too long and wrap it up with a towel once again. This process can take a while like 10–20 minutes depending on how much fur your guinea pig has.

2.Blow dry:

Some guinea pigs have long hair. If your one is the same then try to brush it carefully when you are drying it with a blow dryer.

While you blow-dry your guinea pig, try your best to keep a safe distance and not to blow the hot air directly towards it. Keep the distance like 7–10 inches away. Always keep your hands between the guinea pig and the blow dryer as they are very sensitive animals. If you keep the blow dryer at the same point for a while, it can burn up their skin.

Keep the blow dryer always moving and most importantly keep your blow dryer on the COOLEST and the LOWEST setting.

So, by following these two steps you can dry your guinea pigs after a bath. After finishing everything you can give them a little bit of floor time by putting them in a warm room with towels.
