Love to Learn |
These 6 ways are, “B.E. F.A.S.T.” by Jim Kwik. Let’s jump to the explanation.
Steps:
1. B for Believe:
“To believe in something, and not to live it, is dishonest.”
― Mahatma Gandhi
Believe in yourself! Have faith in your abilities! Without a humble but reasonable confidence in your own powers you cannot be successful or happy.
— Normal Vincent Peale
Everyone. everyone knows that if we want to achieve something we need to believe in ourselves, we gotta believe that we can achieve it, otherwise it’s not gonna happen. So, before asking yourself how to learn this/that, you need to believe that you can learn it easily. And why does this work? Because in this way we talk to ourselves, we send a signal to our brain and then the path gets easier. Let's let our minds hear, “I can do this”.
2. E for Exercise:
There are some proofs to indicate that exercise might also assist in improving learning skills. A study of 2007 by German researchers discovered that people could learn vocabulary words 20 times faster following exercise than they did before starting it and that the rate of learning matched up directly with levels of BDNF. Exercise improves our attention and prepares our nerve cells so that we can store new information in our brain.
Exercise strengthens our memory, increases energy levels. So. while learning something, take a break, do some basic workouts, and voila, you get to learn more.
Exercise helps the mind get prepared to learn, and it surely makes keeping hold of information easier.
3. F for Forget:
Nope, I'm not saying that to learn something you must forget it first. What I'm trying to imply is before learning something forget everything you know about that. Act as a noob and grab everything you can. If you have the thought that you know about the topic then your brain doesn’t allow you to learn that properly. So, just try to learn something like you don't know anything about it and thus you allow your brain to be more open.
It is only when we forget all our learning that we begin to know
— Henry David Thoreau
4. A for Active:
Can you imagine how many things are out there to learn? I mean, we can learn 24/7 through our whole life but still, we wouldn't know a lot of things and you know it. So, what can we do? We can fix what to learn and then be active about it. How to be active? It’s simple. Focus on that specific thing, involve yourself in it, start taking notes, try to find your problems, and ask the questions. When you start asking questions, directly or indirectly you get to know the answers and it helps you to be involved in it which leads you to be more active.
5. S for State:
Your mental state affects your learning. We don't need any statistics to realize this. Just imagine you are in a bad mood and someone starts teaching you something, how'd you feel? When we feel low, we can't learn something. So, before learning something we should have a delightful mental state. Learning anything is connected with emotion. If you don't have the emotion for learning something then you can't learn it quickly or you can't remember it for so long. So, before learning something let's just be in a good environment, a good state.
6. T for Teach:
Have you ever thought when we teach something to other people we understand the topic better than before and also remember it for a long time? Yes, teaching helps us to learn something quickly. Before learning something we shouldn't have a thought in mind that we're gonna teach this topic to other people and when we know we need to teach it then we involve in the topic more than ever. We start to take better notes, we put in our best effort and we become more concentrated.
So, while learning something it's important to think that we need to teach this exact thing to other people and how it helps you you'll get to realize by yourself.
