The province is easing some restrictions in the Whiteshell now that flood water is receding. North Whiteshell Provincial Park has been closed due to weather conditions. Manitoba Environment, Climate and Parks is advising changes to the closure along with Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure.  

On Friday, Provincial Road 307 will reopen to local traffic only at 1 pm. Only permanent occupants, cottage owners, commercial operators and clients will be allowed access. The area is still not open to day visitors and campers. Due to flood waters and potentially dangerous conditions, access points and campgrounds will remain closed.

As of Friday, June 10 at 1 pm, the closure and evacuation order for Whiteshell Provincial Park's northern part will be lifted. A temporary traffic signal will be installed in the area in which one lane has been raised for access to make sure traffic is safe. 'Yield to oncoming traffic' signage will be placed elsewhere where single-lane traffic has enough visibility. There can be flooded access roads and poor condition subdivision block roads. Caution is highly recommended.  

Reopening is announced for Sylvia Lake, Eleanor Lake, Otter Falls, Dorothy Lake, Barrier Bay, and Nutimik Lake.  

Due to flood waters that continue to make access to local roads and parks impossible, the Betula Lake area will remain closed. The site will remain Continue Reading
